In December, Scoppechio President and CEO, Toni Clem, announced that as of January 1, 2020, primary caregivers will receive 12 weeks of paid parental leave and secondary caregivers will be eligible for four weeks. The gender-neutral policy applies to the birth of a child, adoption or foster care.
Pledge Parental Leave, an employer-based initiative setting the standard for paid leave in the U.S., reports that of the 66,576 creative agencies in the U.S. only 50% offer paid parental leave. Scoppechio is proud to be a part of this group. Previously, the agency offered six weeks for primary caregivers and two weeks for secondary caregivers, which has now been doubled to expand Scoppechio’s support of paid parental leave.
“This is the right thing to do. We value our people and we want to support our employees as mothers and fathers as they navigate the life-changing event of becoming parents,” Clem noted. “Around 70% of our workforce is women and 55% of our employees are millennials aged 24–39. This new policy will help us improve employee retention while allowing us to better support our employees.”
Expanding family leave coverage will have an immediate impact for many employees including Kate Gray, who is due to deliver her second child this month. Gray says, “I’m so grateful to work for an organization that cares about fostering work-life balance and ensuring that parents are supported.”
